IP for Impact Discount Scheme

We've been ruminating recently on how we can make a bigger difference to the world. Inventions are of course all about solving problems people face and we love working with inventors and their creativity. This is why we enjoy what we do.

We would like to do more and use our skills to help more clients trying to solve some of the world's 'bigger' issues.

We've thus decided to focus our efforts toward helping green-tech companies and 'social enterprises' succeed with their Intelllectual Property (IP).

To that end, we're introducing a discount scheme for those clients with businesses focussed on tackling environmental or social issues with their inventions. We will report on the scheme and its results on a regular basis, as transparency is a key part of any scheme such as this.

The criteria will develop as we work on the scheme but in general, we are looking toward some of the UN's sustainability goals as our guides. Discounts are applied solely at our discretion and have limitations, terms and conditions.

The following examples represent some of the sort of innovators we're looking at supporting.

• Carbon Capture. This may be direct carbon capture, e.g. bio-reactors, or carbon reduction systems in existing polluting systems, e.g. CO2 scrubbers for coal power plants.
• Waste Capture, Prevention or Recycling systems, including carbon capture in waste streams e.g. landfill methane capture, wastewater processing.
• Sustainable Substitution Inventions or businesses that are creating sustainable alternatives to existing products or services, e.g. hemp fibre packaging.
• Mental Health or other Health systems.
• Medical Devices - Medical devices that save lives or improve quality of life.
• Renewable Energy - Anything to do with renewable energy.
• Environmental damage healing - This category includes anything that is for healing environmental damage, e.g. rubbish collection in waterways, oil-spill recovery, ecosystem regeneration.
• Profit Diversion - Companies that may not be producing inventions in any of these categories but are diverting profits to social or environmental projects.
